More about me & my work

My Background

My background is in business, with no art training. Although I attempted creativity twice as an adult, I didn’t find my creative self until I was 50. What began as painting a shed wall has morphed into creations that continue to grow and evolve. I’m curious, I’m engrossed, and I’m free, simply creating.

My Medium

I prefer latex paint, a combination of semi-gloss, eggshell and flat.  I also use acrylics and have a few tubes of oil I interject.  It is about creating layers, being visceral and vulnerable. And I use my fingers, funnels, brushes, sponges, basically whatever my intuition wants.

My Inspiration

Is life and how feel it as an empath. Nature soothes and grounds me, teaches lessons every season. I embrace each and every one and I see my gardens progressions now on canvas. Nature’s color palette amazes and inspires me as does staying open to putting the unexpected together.  Music is a necessity; my playlist grows but constants are Beck, Weezer, The National, the Lumineers, the Decemberists, and Manchester Orchester. My mother’s Alzheimer’s, my battles with life (that word again)…. emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.  And lastly, I have to listen to my inner voice, my gut, when deciding how to start, what colors to use, what technique to try, the endless questions roiling thru my mind but as I tap into that inner voice, I allow it to grow louder, to speak to my through my hands, to create and then, when to stop. And that’s a whole other level of listening and living.
